About Geoff
Geoff Simpson is a natural historian, photographer and writer with more than 32 years of professional experience. He founded Aurelian Editions®, a bespoke book publishing company, and The Aurelian Gallery®, a luxury fine-art showroom in historic Cambridge.
Dividing his time between Spain and the United Kingdom, Simpson has built a photographic practice grounded in a lifetime of observing and interpreting the natural world. His knowledge of species behaviour, ecology, geology and habitat informs an approach that combines scientific observation and fieldcraft with aesthetic restraint and documentary integrity.
Formally trained in crystallography and applied mineralogy, Simpson subsequently pursued a career as a gemmologist, spending twelve years in the City of London. This unusual background gave him an exacting understanding of light, colour, structure, and material that continues to inform his photography today. Across more than three decades, these disciplines have converged around a simple principle: to photograph the natural world well, you must first understand it.
Selected Awards & Recognition
Simpson’s work has received international recognition across wildlife, landscape, botanical, architectural, travel and fine-art photography. His accolades include a 2026 shortlist in the National Geographic Traveller (UK) Photography Competition and winning the European Gardens category of International Garden Photographer of the Year.
He has also received the International Year of Biodiversity Award at the British Wildlife Photography Awards and won the Environmental category of International Bird Photographer of the Year, alongside honours from Nature’s Best Photography and Architectural Photographer of the Year. Since 1996, Simpson has been shortlisted 28 times for Wildlife Photographer of the Year.

The Aurelian Gallery® presents Simpson’s limited-edition fine-art collections and signature books from a curated showroom in historic Cambridge. Created for collectors, interior designers, architects, and hospitality professionals, the collection includes museum-quality prints, acrylic presentations, and bespoke visual publications.
Aurelian Editions® creates bespoke fine-art books for iconic hotels, resorts and estates worldwide. Conceived as enduring portraits of place, each publication combines original photography, narrative and editorial design to capture the architecture, landscape, heritage and character of an exceptional destination.
Commercial Collaborations
Simpson has undertaken commissions for luxury hotels and resorts, Michelin-starred restaurants, private estates and leading real-estate agencies across Spain, Morocco, Italy, France and the United Kingdom.
Clients include Puente Romano Beach Resort, Nobu Marbella, Bardal, Boho Club Marbella, Savills Sotogrande and MAS Properties Marbella, alongside hospitality commissions in Marrakech, Tangier, Essaouira, Milan and Paris.
International Representation
Selected works are represented internationally by Getty Images, Saatchi Art and Nature Picture Library, bringing Simpson’s photography to publishers, collectors, designers and commercial clients worldwide.
