Biography
Geoff Simpson is a natural historian, photographer, and writer with more than 32 years of professional experience. He is also the founder of The Aurelian Gallery®, a luxury fine-art showroom in historic Cambridge. Dividing his time between Spain and the United Kingdom, Simpson has developed a distinctive photographic practice rooted in lifelong observation, ecological literacy, and a profound understanding of species behaviour, geological processes, and habitat dynamics. This foundation informs an approach that combines aesthetic restraint with documentary rigour, producing imagery that is both visually compelling and scientifically informed.
His visual and material literacy is underpinned by formal training in crystallography and applied mineralogy, together with an accomplished career as a gemmologist. During twelve years working in the City of London alongside many of the industry’s leading figures, he developed the analytical precision, material expertise, and exacting professional standards that continue to influence his photographic practice today.

Simpson’s work has received international recognition across wildlife, landscape, botanical, architectural, travel, and fine-art photography. His accolades include being shortlisted in the Landscape category of the National Geographic Traveller (UK) Photography Competition in 2026 and winning the European Gardens category of International Garden Photographer of the Year. His photography has also been recognised at the British Photography Awards as Close-up Photographer of the Year, Travel Photographer of the Year, and WildArt Photographer of the Year.
He is the recipient of the unique International Year of Biodiversity Award at the British Wildlife Photography Awards and winner of the Environmental category of the International Bird Photographer of the Year. His work has been Highly Commended on several occasions in the Nature’s Best Photography: Windland Smith Rice International Awards, as well as in the Architectural Photographer of the Year. Since 1996, Simpson has been shortlisted 48 times for the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, a remarkable record reflecting his sustained commitment to artistic excellence, technical precision, and the natural world.

The Aurelian Gallery® presents Geoff Simpson’s limited-edition fine-art collections and signature coffee-table books within a curated showroom in the historic city of Cambridge. Created for discerning collectors, interior designers, architects, and hospitality professionals, the collection encompasses museum-quality fine-art prints, deluxe acrylic presentations, and bespoke visual publications.
Drawing upon more than three decades of photographic experience, Simpson’s award-winning imagery combines artistic distinction with documentary authenticity. Simpson has undertaken commissioned assignments for leading hospitality brands, luxury resorts, fine-dining destinations, and premium real-estate agencies throughout Spain, Morocco, Italy, France and the United Kingdom.
His clients include some of southern Europe’s most prestigious destinations and brands, among them Puente Romano Beach Resort, Nobu Marbella, Bardal, Ronda’s two-Michelin-starred restaurant, Boho Club Marbella, Sublim Beach Club Estepona, Nido Beach Resort Estepona, Sea Grill Marbella, Breathe Marbella, and Hotel Los Pilares de Ronda. Leading real-estate agencies, including MAS Properties Marbella and Savills Sotogrande, have also commissioned his work, as have international hospitality properties in Marrakech, Tangier, Essaouira, Milan and Paris. Every assignment is approached with the same attention to detail, visual storytelling, and artistic refinement that characterise his award-winning photographic practice.
