Biography
Geoff Simpson is a natural historian, photographer, and writer with more than 32 years of professional experience, and the founder of The Artrepreneur Gallery, a luxury fine-art showroom in the historic city of Cambridge. Dividing his time between Spain and the United Kingdom, Simpson has developed a distinctive photographic practice rooted in long-term field observation, ecological literacy, and a deep understanding of species behaviour, geological processes, and habitat dynamics. This foundation informs an approach that combines aesthetic restraint with documentary rigour, producing imagery that is both visually compelling and scientifically informed.
Simpson's visual and material literacy is underpinned by formal training in crystallography and applied mineralogy. Recognised as a world-class gemmologist, he spent twelve years working in the City of London alongside many of the industry's leading figures, where analytical precision, material expertise, and high-value decision-making shaped a disciplined and exacting professional ethos. Today, these attributes continue to influence his photographic practice, informing both his technical approach and his pursuit of excellence.

Geoff's work has received international recognition across wildlife, landscape, botanical, architectural, travel, and fine art photography. His accolades include being shortlisted in the Landscape Category of the National Geographic Traveller (UK) Photography Competition (2026), winning the European Gardens Category of International Garden Photographer of the Year, and receiving recognition in the British Photography Awards, Close-up Photographer of the Year, Travel Photographer of the Year, and WildArt Photographer of the Year. He is also the recipient of the unique International Year of Biodiversity Award at the British Wildlife Photography Awards and the winner of the Environmental Category of the International Bird Photographer of the Year. His work has been Highly Commended in the Nature's Best Photography: Windland Smith Rice International Awards on several occasions, and highly commended in the Architectural Photographer of the Year. Since 2004, Geoff has been shortlisted 28 times for the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year, reflecting a sustained commitment to excellence in nature photography.

His work has also been commissioned by leading real estate agencies, including MAS Properties Marbella and Savills Sotogrande, as well as international hospitality properties in Marrakech, Tangiers, and Essaouira, Morocco.
